Positive Thinking and Affirmations

What is the first thing that pops into your head in the morning when the alarm clock goes off? Is it, “Oh great, another Wednesday.” or maybe, “Turn off that alarm, I want to sleep.” This is the reaction that a lot of people have. And they most likely spend the entire day, “dragging” through or just surviving.

But what would your day be like if the first things you thought of were good positive things? Like maybe, “Thank you God for this day.” or “I’m happy, I’m healthy and I feel great.” You could also wake up and read in the Bible or a devotional book. Anything that is positive and gets you to thinking positive and up-lifting thoughts.

Another thing that you can do is to write positive affirmations down each morning. To be honest with you, I really didn’t understand anything about this until the last two years. After understanding it and putting it to use in my life, I know that I was doing it as a kid growing up, but just wasn’t writing it down. I have found out that writing things down makes a huge difference.

Yesterday for me was a great example of the how I was successful in using both positive thinking and affirmations.

The alarm went off at 5:30 a.m. like normal, but instead of just hitting the snooze button and going back to sleep, I laid there and thanked God for the day that I was going to have. You see, I was getting to play golf for the first time in 8 months. I haven’t hit one single ball and was going to play in a scramble tournament. As I started getting around and ready to go play, I kept thinking about positive things and telling myself that I would play very good today.

I was not able to write down my affirmations, but I kept telling the to myself all morning long. “You are a good golfer and you hit the ball straight and solid.” “You are a good putter.” Things like this. I also found myself visualizing shots as I drove to the course. Everything I did, was geared toward giving myself the best possible chance to play well, which I did.

So I know you are saying, “that’s great, but it’s easy to get excited about doing something besides work.” Well, guess again, I was up this morning at 5:30 a.m. and was thanking God for another beautiful day. I have read through some positive articles and then I sat down to share with you. I will read from my Bible and a devotional book in just a few minutes and then I will pray that God will use me as I take on the opportunities of my day. Then after getting ready, I will go off to the office to set the example and encourage others and remain positive. That is the game plan that I have for the day.

I hope that this has helped you and has got you thinking about positive things. Have a blessed day.
